About the Project
900sqft of self-sustaining zero-emissions space.
These separate living quarters are designed as additional income-generating rentable space or space for hosting visitors.
DC is known for its shortage of housing. An ADU allows DC residents to offer additional living options by permitting build outs up to 900sqft of living space in their backyard.
This project was crafted and designed with zero city energy consumption and emissions in mind. An array of solar panels offers unlimited electricity that powers the ADU, as well as contributes some of its extra energy back to the city. The house is equipped with a Tesla charging station, rammed-earth wall, and energy-waste reducing internals. The house is 100% Gold LEED certified and is the first of its kind in the city.
